"BESSIE"

The 1900 Federal Census lists Bessie A Berry as being 22 years of age, having been born in April of 1878. She is the daughter of John and Mary A Berry. She has siblings Mary J, 22, Helena R, 17, and Pocahontas, 14. Since Mary J is listed as the same age as Bessie on the census, one may conclude that they were twin sisters. The 1910 Census lists her and her sister Pocohantas as being servants in the household of Frank and Emily Miller who reside on Manhattan, Ward 21, New York, New York. The 1920 census has Bessie is living back in Virginia with her mother, Mary, who is no widowed and her sister Hellena.
