Samuel Duncan was born in 1917 in Virginia. His parents were Mary and Samuel, both born in Virginia. The 1920 census lists Samuel as 2 years old with siblings Major Duncan 9, and Grather 7. In 1930 Samuel is living with his aunt and uncle, Arthur and Viola Davis. In 1940, Samuel has married Helen Barber and they are living with Helen's parents at 737 Waynan Street, Petersburg, Virginia.
